I try to read these books at least once a year.
I don’t agree with every word in every one of them — but each shaped how I think about decisions, business, and life.
If you pick up even one of them, I think you’ll see why.

The Bible
The foundation for everything else.
(The part I said above about not agreeing with every word doesn’t apply here of course.)
I’m not a theologian, so I’m not recommending a certain translation or version. But if you don’t read the Word already, I would say get a copy and start.
Start With No — Jim Camp
The single best book I know on negotiation.
It flips the usual approach — if you get this down, it can be like you’re not even playing the same game as others.
The Slight Edge — Jeff Olson
Shows how small, consistent actions compound into big results.
Good antidote to “overnight success” thinking.
The Screwtape Letters — C.S. Lewis
A sharp, often funny, look at the way we fool ourselves.
A good reminder that the battle over our choices usually starts in our own thoughts.
Lead the Field — Earl Nightingale
Short, old-school audio program turned book.
Practical lessons on personal responsibility and steady daily effort — still hits home decades later.
Never Split the Difference — Chris Voss
Written by a former FBI hostage negotiator.
Packed with ways reading the other side and get better outcomes without being pushy.
